“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list”. Here are all the countries in the world where i’ve been so far, for a couple of days only or for many years. I hope this map will become more and more blue in the future!
–France: I was born in Saint-Nazaire on the Atlantic Coast and spent most of my life there and in Rennes where I studied for 3 years. I’ve been almost everywhere around the country, apart from the South-West that I don’t really know.
–Germany: my mother’s country. We used to travel there once a year with my parents when I was a kid, and I went back on my own a few times more recently (Berlin, Dresden, lake of Constance next to Austria…). I also lived in Saarlouis, next to the French border for a few months in 2009.
–Switzerland: I lived in Neuchâtel for five years between 2011 and 2016. Switzerland is quite small so during that time I explored the whole country from top to bottom and from left to right ; even once in Liechtenstein. I probably know Switzerland better than many of the Swiss themselves!
Also: England (London twice, once in Cambridge and Bristol), Scotland (many stays in Edinburgh and Glasgow), Wales (one day in Cardiff), Ireland (only to Dublin), Spain (Madrid and Barcelona), Italy (a lot of travels including Rome, Milan, Florence and one week in Sicily), Netherlands (only to Amsterdam), Belgium (one week around Brussels, Bruges and Leuven), Luxembourg, Hungary (Budapest), Czech Republic (Prague), Poland (only to Wroclaw) and Turkey (one week in Istanbul, including a few steps on the Asian side of the Bosphorus).
In North America
–United States: I spent 10 days in Boston and New-York in 2015 and visited Hawaii in 2017 (one week on Maui, one week on Big Island and a couple of days on Oahu).
–Canada: I’ve been there twice, first time in 2015 (2 weeks in Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto and Niagara Falls), second time in 2017 (Quebec City and Montreal again, 10 days of road trip around Gaspésie in the South of Quebec and 10 days to explore Vancouver and Vancouver Island).
I’ve only be once in Morocco (one week in and around Fez).
Only three stopovers on my way to and back from Australia: Thailand (3 days in Bangkok), Malaysia (one day in Kuala Lumpur) and Singapore for 2 days.
–Australia: I spent one year there between 2016 and 2017, during which I travelled all along the East Coast from Cairns to Melbourne (Queensland, New South Wales, ACT and Victoria ; Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra) and later in the Northern Territory (Uluru, Alice Springs and Darwin). I also lived 5 months in Melbourne in between. Then I came back in December 2017 to travel around Western Australia (I started in Broome and road tripped until Perth and the South coast). After driving through the long and empty Nullarbor Plain I also explored South Australia (Adelaide) and finally spent two weeks in Tasmania by the end of January 2018.
–New Zealand: I lived in Auckland for one month and a half between October and November 2017 and came back in the country in February 2018, spending four weeks on the South Island followed by two weeks on the North Island.
