Not far from Arequipa, Colca Canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world, with a maximal depth of 3270m. The only one with a greater depth is the Canyon of Cotohuasi (3535m), also in Peru! The hike to reach an oasis all the way down the canyon and then climb back up the next morning was exhausting, but it remains one of the best memories of my trip in the country.
