Beginning of the day : taking the ferry from Townsville to Magnetic Island
Hi guys, nice of you to welcome me on your island !
The coastal walk all around the island leads to lovely empty beaches with clear water…
Oops, wrong way for me !
Doesn’t it look like paradise ?
The Forts walk up the hills of Magnetic Island offers some amazing 360° viewpoints
The Forts were built during World War II to defend Townsville which was an important military base
Can you spot the selfie on this picture ? 😉
But the main attraction of Magnetic Island is… koalas !
It’s very easy to see them, if you look carefully into the trees on the Forts walk you will eventually notice one of these so cute furbags, and sometimes from very close !
“Damn human, can’t you just let me sleep ?”
Do you know why koalas sleep all the time ? Because they only eat eucalyptus leaves and as they’re very poor in nutriments they need to save their energy for the digestion… At least they probably have a very fresh breath !
Sometimes they wake up from their naps and start climbing to the top of the trees…
…like this adventurous baby leaving the comfort of his mother’s arms…
…but he’s still a little bit clumsy !
One last view over Magnetic Island from Castle Hill, the big red rock in the middle of Townsville. What a great day !
