I didn't know much about Japan before travelling there for the first time in 2018, and a lot of aspects of the local culture astonished me when I arrived in the country. Here are the 9 things that surprised me most!
A little smaller than Ireland, the island of Tasmania has an incredible and unique diversity of landscapes. I spent two weeks there with my van in January 2018, and it sometimes reminded me of Canada, Brittany, Switzerland or even the South of France, while still being 100% Australian. Between nature, history, culture and gastronomy, here is the story of this unforgettable road trip!

Driving in the middle of nowhere with kangaroos hopping by the side of the road. Watching sunsets in the outback. Sleeping under a sky full of stars. Waking up with the sound of waves breaking on an unspoiled beach... That dream of liberty came true for me in July 2016, when I bought a van and started travelling around Australia. Here are the stories of the best moments of my nomadic life all around the country, from the coast of Queensland to the Nullarbor plain, from the Great Ocean Road to Tasmania. And as a bonus, a list of useful tips if you're thinking of buying your own van!
In September 2020, as I came to the end of a wonderful two-week trip in Italy, I wrote a short text as an attempt to capture this very special moment that always comes at the end of holidays, trying to put words on my thoughts and describing what this post-trip melancholy felt like for me. This state of mind didn't leave me when I came back home a few days later, so I decided to share it, even though it was quite personal. Two years have passed and I am now publishing it a second time, but with a slightly different ending!
At the end of August 2017, less than eight weeks after coming back from a fabulous year in Australia, I was about to leave my hometown of Saint-Nazaire for nine more months of travelling around the world. The night before I left, I wrote a short text but never published it. In April 2020, in the middle of the first Covid-19 lockdown in France, I eventually came across it. It was a very strange period and I kind of felt in a similar state of mind, so I decided to share it, without any corrections, and to compare my expectations to what actually happened to me. Right now, in November 2022, I am about to leave France again for a two-month-trip in South America, so it feels like the perfect moment to publish it a second time. Fasten your seat belts and follow me in my time machine!
By the end of June 2016, I left Switzerland where I used to live to begin the greatest trip of my life: I was about to fly to Australia for one year, alone. On my way, I stopped in Bangkok for a couple of days, for a stopover that turned out to be much more eventful than expected. This memory left a big mark on me, at the point that I decided to tell the story of it in the first chapter of the book I started to write in 2021. Two years later, I still haven't finished it, but I wanted to share this introduction chapter, as a memory of the very first hours of that trip that was going to change my life forever.
26 letters for 26 places, atmospheres and travelling anecdotes: this is the challenge I set to myself with this article! From Australia to Yosemite and Zion, via Iceland, hostel life and a meal of okonomiyaki, here is my traveller's alphabet: 26 letters for a journey around the world!
Byron Bay, a small town on the east coast of Australia, was the starting point of my very first trip around the country at the end of June 2016. The countless experiences I was going to live in the twelve months that followed marked me deeply and changed my life forever. So inevitably, when I decided to start writing a novel inspired by this initiatory journey, it was with this memorable episode that I chose to start... Exactly 7 years later, I offer you a slightly shortened version of the first chapter of this book, which I hope to complete in the next few months!
